Polish grades and diploma supplements
Polish universities grade on a scale from 2 to 5: 5 is very good, 4 good, 3 satisfactory and 2 a fail, with half-grades such as 4.5 in between. A US reader who assumes 5 is a middling mark out of 10 will badly misread a Polish transcript, so the translation reproduces the scale with the grades.
Since 2005, Polish graduates have received a diploma supplement in a standard European format, often issued in English as well as Polish. An English version may only need certifying rather than translating; the Polish diploma itself still needs a translation.
