A Cuban medical graduate's degree is a Doctor en Medicina, and several other Latin American countries use the same title. It is the first professional degree in medicine, comparable to the degree that qualifies a physician, not a research doctorate. Many Latin American law graduates are likewise styled "Doctor".
The translation renders the title exactly - "Doctor of Medicine" with the Spanish beside it - and leaves equivalence to the credential evaluator and the licensing board, which for physicians is a long process of its own.
