A certified translation is a complete translation of a document accompanied by a signed statement — the certificate of accuracy — in which the translator attests that the translation is complete and accurate and that they are competent to translate between the two languages. The certificate is what makes the translation acceptable to government agencies, courts, universities and licensing boards. Without it, an otherwise perfect translation is just a translation.

What a certified translation includes
- A complete translation of the document — every seal, stamp, signature block and marginal note is accounted for, not just the body text.
- Formatting that mirrors the source document, so a reviewer can set the two side by side and follow them.
- A signed and dated certificate of accuracy identifying the translator and the language pair.
- Digital delivery as PDF. Hard copies with wet signatures are available when the receiving institution requires them.
Certified, notarized, or apostilled?
These three terms are often used interchangeably, and they are not the same thing. Certification attests to the accuracy of the translation. Notarization verifies the identity of the person signing the certificate — it says nothing about translation quality. An apostille authenticates a public document for use in another country. Many customers need only certification; some need certification plus one of the others. - Upload your document. Our system reads the file and returns an instant word count and price, so you see the cost before you commit.
- Confirm language pair and deadline. Standard turnaround is 24 hours. If you need it sooner, expedited options are available.
- Translation. A translator working into their strongest language produces the translation and matches the layout of the original.
- Review and certification. The translation is checked against the source document, then signed by a State Court Certified Translator and issued with the certificate of accuracy.
- Delivery. You receive the certified PDF by email. Notarization, apostille or hard-copy delivery are added at this stage if you have requested them.
What You Need to Provide
To quote and translate accurately we need:
- A legible copy of every page, including the reverse side if it carries stamps or endorsements. A clear phone photo is usually fine; a scan is better.
- The target language, and the country or institution the translation is for — requirements differ between them.
- Spelling of proper names as they appear on your passport or ID. This is the single most common cause of a document being rejected and re-issued, so tell us up front if a name is transliterated inconsistently across your documents.
- Any instructions from the receiving institution, if you have them in writing.
