Japanese degree documents
A Japanese university graduate receives a ceremonial degree diploma, the gakuiki, and can order certificates of graduation and of degree conferral from the university - usually in English as well as Japanese. For evaluations, those certificates are generally more useful than the diploma.
Where a Japanese-only document has to be used, the translation renders the degree title - a gakushi is a bachelor's, a shūshi a master's - with the date in both the Japanese era system and the Western calendar.
