Driver's License Translation in New Jersey
The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission requires any document in a language other than English to be accompanied by a certified translation - a foreign driver's license, an identity card, a birth certificate used as proof of identity. Since 2021 New Jersey has issued standard licenses to residents regardless of immigration status, which has put a great many foreign documents in front of MVC agents.

What the MVC counts as a certified translation
The MVC accepts a translation issued by a government body, such as the consulate of the country that issued the document; one signed and sealed by a qualified translator, such as an ATA-certified translator; or one from any competent adult translator whose certification includes their name, the document, the applicant's name, a statement of fluency in both languages, a statement that the translation is complete and accurate - stamps and seals included - an acknowledgment that a false translation is punishable, and the translator's signature, address, email and phone number.
