Divorce Decree Translation in Texas

Most Mexican divorces are granted by a family court judge. The judgment - the sentencia de divorcio - is declared final (ejecutoriada) and then registered with the civil registry, which issues an acta de divorcio and annotates the marriage record. Several Mexican states also allow an administrative divorce at the civil registry itself, without a judge, where both spouses agree and there are no minor children or property to divide.

For a Texas filing the acta de divorcio, or the annotated acta de matrimonio, is usually the cleanest proof. Where the registry has not yet recorded a judicial divorce, the sentencia and the order declaring it final are translated instead.
