Marriage Certificate Translation in Florida
Florida marriage licences are issued by the Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county, and the clerk keeps the recorded certificate. The state Bureau of Vital Statistics in Jacksonville also holds marriage records from June 1927 onward, which helps when nobody remembers which county issued the licence.
Florida's destination-wedding trade also sends many certificates out of the state: couples from abroad who married in Orlando, Miami or the Keys and now need the marriage recognised at home.

A Florida wedding recognised abroad
The order of steps matters. First, a certified copy of the recorded certificate from the clerk of court - a decorative certificate handed over at the ceremony is not a record. Second, an apostille from the Florida Department of State or, for a country outside the Hague Convention, legalisation through its consulate. Only then the translation, so that the apostille is translated along with the certificate.
