Bank Statement Translation

Certified translation of foreign bank statements as evidence of assets for the I-864 affidavit of support, visas, courts and lenders.

A bank statement is mostly numbers, and that is exactly why it goes wrong in translation. The account holder, the institution, the period, the currency and every balance have to come across exactly as printed, because the statement is evidence of money that someone is going to add up.

Typical length and price

Typical length: about 300–1,200 words per monthly statement (about 2–5 pages of 250 words).

Estimated price into English at that length: $44.80–$149.20 per file, certificate of accuracy included.

These figures are our estimates for a typical document of this type, not averages of past orders. Upload yours for an exact word count and price.

When a bank statement needs a certified translation

  • The I-864 affidavit of support. A sponsor whose income falls short can count assets. The Form I-864 instructions (edition 08/24/26) allow the assets of the intending immigrant to be used "regardless of where he or she resides", and require evidence of those assets with the affidavit. A savings or checking account abroad is usually shown with that bank's statements.
  • Visa and residence applications that ask for proof of funds.
  • Courts, for example in divorce or estate cases with accounts abroad.
  • Lenders and landlords checking income or reserves held abroad.

For anything filed with USCIS, the same translation rule applies as for every other document: the I-864 instructions require "a full English translation" and the translator's certification that it is complete and accurate and that they are competent to translate from the foreign language into English, with their signature, printed name, signature date and contact information. See USCIS translation requirements.

What the translation has to get exactly right

Amounts and currency stay as printed. A certified translation reproduces the figures in the original currency. Converting them to dollars is not translation, and a converted figure can no longer be checked against the original. If a form asks for a dollar value, that is a separate calculation you or your preparer make.

Number formats. Many countries write 1.250,50 where the US writes 1,250.50. The translation keeps the figures as the bank printed them, and the certificate covers the reading of every one of them.

Who owns the account and where it is held. The account holder's name, the bank's name and branch, the account type and the statement period are what make the statement evidence of a particular person's assets, so they are translated in full.

Transaction descriptions. Narrative lines such as transfers, fees and interest are translated. Codes and reference numbers are copied as printed.

How many months, and how many pages

Statements run long, and translation is priced by word. Ask the office you are filing with which period it needs before ordering, and send exactly those statements. We translate every page we receive in full; we do not translate selected lines of a page.

What we need from you

  • Every page of each statement, including the first page with the account holder's details and any page with summaries or footnotes.
  • The bank's own PDF if you have it. It is sharper than a photo of a printout, and the numbers have to be legible.
  • The account holder's name as it appears on their passport.
  • Where it is going: USCIS, the NVC, a court or a lender.

How it works

  1. Upload the document. The quote tool counts the words and prices the job before you commit to anything.
  2. Translation. The whole document - every page, stamp, seal and annotation - with the layout kept close enough to the original that a reviewer can read the two side by side.
  3. Certification. A State Court Certified Translator signs the certificate of accuracy.
  4. Delivery. A print-ready PDF by email, typically within 24 hours. Notarization, an apostille or mailed hard copies are added here if you need them.

Turnaround

Standard turnaround is 24 hours. Expedited service is +50% for 6-8 hours and +100% for 1-3 hours. Tell us your deadline when you order.

Pricing Information

$39 for the first page (up to 250 words) into English, $49 into other languages, then $0.116 per additional word. Figures in transaction tables count as words, so upload the statements to see the exact price before you order. The certificate of accuracy is included.
